Nor Hayati is ministry's new sec-gen
KUALA LUMPUR: The deputy secretary-general (policy) of the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry, Datuk Norhayati Sulaiman, has been appointed the secretary-general of the ministry effective Dec 19.
She succeeds Tan Sri Faizah Mohd Tahir whose contract of service expired on Dec 18, director-general of Public Service Tan Sri Ismail Adam said yesterday.
Norhayati, 57, who was appointed deputy secretary-general of the ministry in 2004, has held key positions, including divisional secretary, Rural Economy Division, Rural Development Ministry (2000 to 2004); director of the Corporate Affairs Bureau, Malaysian Foreign Trade Development Corporation, International Trade and Industry Ministry (1998 to 2000); and principal assistant secretary, Department Control Unit, Contract and Supply |Division, Finance Ministry (1992 to 1998).
She served as principal assistant director, International Trade Division, Trade and Industry Ministry (1985 to 1990); trade commissioner in Brussels, under the same ministry (1981 to 1985); and assistant director in the same ministry (1975 to 1981).
The director-general of the ministry, Datuk Dr Noorul Ainur Mohd Nur, has been appointed the deputy secretary-general (policy) effective Dec 19 to succeed Norhayati.
Noorul Ainur, 53, had held several positions in the civil service including as director-general, Women Development Department from June last year; senior adviser I at the World Bank headquarters in Washington, the US (2006 to 2008); and principal assistant secretary, Economic Analysis and International Division, Finance Ministry (2004 to 2006).
The director of the Trade Practices Section, Service and Trade Practices Division of the International Trade and Industry Ministry, Wan Hasmah Wan Mohd, has been appointed the director-general of the Women Development Department effective Dec 19 to succeed Noorul Ainur. -- Bernama
