The aims of the establishment of Resource Center KPWKM are:

• To be the center of research regarding issues concerning women
• To collect and update statistics about women

The objective of Resource Center is to fulfill the requirement and need of the Ministry through quality service provision.

The Resource Center consists of Library, Interactive Section and Media Resource Room.

• Able to accommodate approximately 20 persons at one time
• Self-service photostatting machine
• Comfortable reading area
• Internet surfing facilities
• Newspaper and newspaper cut outs

Interactive resource center was set up in mid of July 2002 with the aim to encourage KPWKM’s staff members to self-taught studies. Users are also able to obtain information in any fields relating to their respective career in order to enhance understanding of the work environment and to equip themselves with current and up-to-date knowledge.

The room is able to accommodate approximately 30 persons at one time. CD / Video that is relevant to the current issues involving women and family is shown every Friday

Resource Center’s collection has about 13,000 copies of books and magazines/journals that are indexed according to women issues. Current subscription at Resource Center stands at 65 titles of magazines/journals, CD/ROM and databases. There are also a collection of multimedia for the use of Interactive Resource Center and collections of pictures and photographs.

In 1997, for easier, faster and more effective storage and information retrieval system, the Resource Center has implemented Integrated Library System “Virginia Tech Library System (VTLS)”. Users would be able to access the Library’s collection through Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC).

Membership is free and open to:

• All staff members of Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, Department of Women’s Development (JPW), National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN), staff members of all government agencies, semi-government and corporate bodies.

• For staff members of any government bodies, semi-government, corporate bodies and higher learning institutions, use of the Resource Center is limited for the purpose of reference and information gathering only. They are also required to bring letter of certification from each organization.

Registered members are allowed to borrow: 3 books for the period of two weeks, and 3 magazines/journals for a week

Friday     - 7.30am - 12.15pm 2.45pm - 4.45pm
Saturday - 7.30am - 1.15pm

* Resource Center is closed on Sunday and other public holidays.
