ASEAN Unites to Protect Children in the Digital Age

19 November 2025

The 2025 ASEAN ICT Forum on Child Online Protection concluded today with a closing ceremony held in Kuala Lumpur, featuring remarks by YB Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad, Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, who emphasized ASEAN’s steadfast commitment to safeguarding children in the digital era.

Over the past two days, participants including youth representatives, government officials, tech industry partners, researchers and civil society actors delved into critical issues such as mental health, inclusive digital access for children with disabilities, age assurance, AI risks, harmful content and cross-border cooperation.

Youth voices took center stage, sharing candid and powerful accounts of online risks, pressures and wellbeing. The forum underscored that ASEAN must remain agile, innovative and united in navigating the rapidly evolving digital landscape with the goal of creating a safe online world where every child can learn, explore and connect with confidence.

The event also highlighted ASEAN’s growing maturity in addressing child online protection with Malaysia reaffirming its dedication to sustaining this momentum amid the region’s dynamic social and digital environment.
