OPENING SESSION: ASEAN + ROK Conference on Care and Support for Older Persons

The Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, Malaysia, in partnership with the Republic of Korea, is hosting the ASEAN + ROK Conference on Care and Support for Older Persons from 30th June until 2nd July 2025. Held at Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur, the two-day conference, themed “Nurturing a Shared Future, Bridging Generations, Strengthening Communities, and Innovating Care,” aims to foster closer collaborations and enhance human capital development in older person’s care across ASEAN and the Republic of Korea.
The event was officiated by YB Dato’ Seri Hajah Nancy Shukri, Chair of ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Social Welfare and Development (AMMSWD) and Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Malaysia. Opening remarks were delivered by H.E. Datuk Dr. Maziah Che Yusoff, Malaysia’s SOMSWD Leader & Secretary General of the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, Malaysia followed by messages from H.E. Lee Jang-keun, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea’s Mission to ASEAN, and H. E. San Lwin, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) via pre-recorded video.
Attended by government officials, practitioners, academics, and civil society organizations in social welfare, healthcare, and security, the conference also features an exhibition by ASEAN Member States and Korea, showcasing their older person’s care initiatives.
