THE 2025 ASEAN WOMEN, PEACE AND SECURITY (WPS) SUMMIT OPENED ON A STRONG NOTE IN KUALA LUMPUR TODAY

Program      9 September 2025      Kuala Lumpur

The 2025 ASEAN Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Summit opened on a strong note in Kuala Lumpur today, bringing together partners and stakeholders from across the region in a shared commitment to advance the WPS agenda.

The opening session featured speeches from representatives who have worked tirelessly to ensure the success of this Summit and to strengthen ASEAN’s journey in WPS.

From KPWKM, Secretary-General YBhg. Datuk Dr. Maziah Che Yusoff set the tone with a strong call for collective action, stressing that only by working together—governments, civil society, academia, youth and the security sector—can ASEAN turn commitments into real change for women and girls.

She also reminded delegates that this Summit is more than a meeting; it is a milestone to celebrate achievements, confront challenges, and strengthen determination for a more peaceful, resilient and inclusive ASEAN.

As the conversations begin, participants look forward to two days of learning, sharing and building stronger partnerships that will carry the WPS agenda forward — together.
